Profile

Elisabetta Di Bartolomeo is a Professor of Materials Science and Technology (IMAT-01/A) in the Department of Chemical Science and Technologies (DSTC) at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, a position she has held since 2022. She has been a faculty member at the same University since 1999. She earned an MSc in Physics from the University of Rome La Sapienza and a PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

She teaches various undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate courses in Materials Science and Technology, Applied Chemistry, and Materials for Energy, primarily for students in Engineering and Chemistry programs.

Since 2003, she has been a member of the Faculty Board for the PhD program “Materials for Health, Environment and Energy,” now renamed “Materials for Sustainable Development.” She has supervised numerous PhD theses.

Her research focuses on the development of advanced ceramic materials for environmental monitoring and energy production. She has authored over 130 publications in international journals, with more than 4,400 citations, and has contributed to over 200 national and international conferences. She has been invited to speak at international conferences and institutions abroad. She has served as a guest editor and editorial board member and has contributed to special issues. She is also a reviewer for national funding agencies and several high-impact scientific journals.

Since 2012, she has served as principal investigator for multiple research projects and contracts funded by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR, including PRIN programs), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (bilateral cooperation programs), ENEA, and INSTM. She collaborates actively with research groups around the world, including partners in Japan, the USA, Switzerland, Greece, India, Spain, and Italy.

She was Director of the Teaching Supervising Committee for the PhD program in Materials for Health, Environment and Energy from 2019 to 2022. Currently, she serves as Vice-Director of the DSTC (since 2024), Coordinator of the X-Chem Lab at DSTC, and a member of the Scientific Council of INSTM (National Interuniversity Consortium of Materials Science and Technology).
